FaSEF provides theoretical and practical training to prepare for the CAPAES for teachers currently employed at universities, adult education institutions offering higher-level programs, at higher arts schools, or any member of the academic or scientific staff responsible for teaching at a university, even if they do not previously hold a teaching credential.
Information about CAPAES
Target Audience
The CAPAES is a mandatory certificate, established by decree of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, which enables teachers currently employed at universities, adult education institutions offering higher-level programs, in higher arts schools, or any member of academic or scientific staff responsible for teaching at a university (even if they do not previously hold a teaching qualification) to obtain an appropriate teaching qualification.
This requirement is established by decree.
ATTENTION! For teachers in pedagogical categories at higher education institutions who teach pedagogy, didactics, or training through and by practice, the required qualification is the Master’s degree in Teacher Education (MSFE).
Organization
We organize the CAPAES in collaboration with the ITN in Namur.
The schedule is spread over one year and consists of evening classes only (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
Candidates who spread their CAPAES training over several academic years need to pay the registration fee for this program only once.
The program includes in-person sessions as well as independent study. It is organized using diverse and flexible teaching and support methods, with an innovative hybrid approach combining in-person and distance learning.
They are delivered using methods tailored to the specific CAPAES audience, emphasizing pedagogical approaches to be promoted in higher education.
The CAPAES is awarded to candidates who have successfully completed all three components (theoretical, practical, and personal portfolio).
Course Exemptions
Certain teaching credentials qualify for a reduced course load (exemption from the courses “Prerequisites in Instructional Design,” “Prerequisites in Education Sciences,” and “Practicum Seminar”).
