The center organizes events and activities such as research seminars, workshops, conferences, doctoral courses, and so forth. The members also participate to events or activities organized by other universities and institutions. Here is a list of most recent activities.

Conferences/Symposia

  • On July 1-4, 2015, the CeRCLe organized the 9th Symposium on Consumer Psychology of Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure Research on the theme "Buying, Being, Behaving", after a series of 8 successful symposia held throughout the World. Symposium chairs of the 2015 edition were Profs. Alain Decrop and Arch Woodside (Boston College, USA). Read more.

Workshops

  • On December 8-9, 2016, the CeRCLe (Prof. Wafa Hammedi), in collaboration with the University of Antwerp (Prof. Annouck Lievens) and Ghent University (Prof. Bart Larivière), organized the 5th edition of the LTAS Workshop at Fordham University in New York City. The workshop is organized with the support of the AMA. Read more.
  • On December 10-11, 2015, the CeRCLe (Prof. Wafa Hammedi) hosted the 4th edition of the LTAS Workshop, in collaboration with the University of Antwerp and Ghent University. The 4th edition was, organized at the University of Namur, with the support of the AMA. Read more.
  • On April 24, 2015, the CeRCLe, in collaboration with the CCMS, organized a workshop on Sharing the Challenges of Collaborative Consumption. The speakers were Profs. R. W. Belk (York University, Canada), I. Collin-Lachaud (University of Lille 2, France), D. Dalli (University of Pisa, Italy), A. Decrop (UNamur, Belgium), G. Eckhardt (Royal Holloway University of London, United Kingdom), M. Herbert (University of Lille 2, France), N. John (Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel), D. Roux (University of Paris-Sud, France) and J.-F. Rixen from EcoConso (Namur, Belgium). 70 professors, PhD students and practitioners from 12 countries attended the workshop. Read more.
  • On December 11-12, 2014, the CeRCLe (Prof. Wafa Hammedi), in  collaboration with the University of Antwerp (Prof. Annouk Lievens) and Ghent University (Prof. Bart Larivière), organized the 3rd edition of the  "Let's talk about service (LTAS)" workshop. The 3rd edition was hosted by Ghent University, and was for the first time empowered by the American Marketing Association (AMA SERVSIG). 60 researchers from all over the world attended the workshop. Prof. M. Kleijnen, V. Kumar (editor JM), J. Kandampully (editor JOSM), A. Gustafsson (area editor JSR and JBR), M. Sigala & C. Ranaweera (co-editors MSQ) were among the keynote speakers. Read more.

  • On December 16, 2016 (LLN), Prof. Yuping Liu-Thompkins (Old Dominion University, VA, USA) gave a talk on "Is loyalty + habit better? Exploring the interference between loyalty and habit".
  • On October 21, 2016 (LLN), Anaïs Gretry (ULg-HEC and Radboud University, the Netherlands) and Maartje Mulders (ULB) presented their doctoral work.
  • On September 30, 2016 (Mons), Profs. Karine Charry (UCL Mons) and Gordy Pleyers (UCL Louvain-La-Neuve) gave a presentation on their previous and future research projects.
  • On April 3, 2015 (Namur), Prof. Bram Van den Bergh (Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands) gave a talk on “A Change of Pace. Goal Gradients in Locomotor Behavior”.
  • On March 13, 2015 (Louvain-la-Neuve), Prof. Maggie Geuens (University of Ghent, Belgium) presented a paper entitled “Clicks as a Healthy Alternative to Bricks: How Online Grocery Shopping Reduces Vice Purchases”.
  • On December 19, 2014 (Namur), Julie Masset (University of Namur), gave a talk on “Entangled or
    entrapped consumers? A longitudinal perspective on the relationships between people and things”, coauthored with A. Decrop.
  • On November 7, 2014 (LLN), Prof. Laura Marie Schons (Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany) presented a paper entitled "What companies can do (wrong) in selling sustainable products".

  • On November 7, 2014 (LLN), Prof. Nicolas Kervyn (Louvain School of Management, UCL & Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management, ULB) gave a talk on "Emotion and advertising effectiveness".

  • On October 3, 2014 (LLN), Dr. Melanie Zaglia, Global Marketing Solutions Manager at Mars Inc.,gave a talk on "Cognitive, emotional, and social processes within brand communities and their impact on brand support and loyalty".
  • On June 13, 2014 (Namur), Prof. Zelal Ates (ULg – HEC School of Management) presented her work entitled “Shedding Light on the Dark Side of Customer Participation: The Dysfunctional Role of Customer Participation Stress”.
  • On April 4, 2014 (Mons), Prof. Michael Antioco (EDHEC Business School, France) presented his research project on “What's in a word? An analysis of Western multinational companies’ global press releases”.
  • On March 21, 2014 (LLN), Prof. Magda Nenycz-Thiel (University of South Australia, The Erhenberg-Bass Institute for Marketing Science) presented her work on “Price promotion framing: Making lemonade from this lemon”.
  • On March 21, 2014 (LLN), Prof. Sandra Rothenberger (ULB-Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management) gave a talk on “Fairness through transparency - The influence of price transparency on consumer price fairness perceptions”.
  • On January 24, 2014 (Namur), Prof. Gilles N’Goala (Université Montpellier 1, France) gave a talk on “Converting opinion seekers in opinion givers in the tourism industry: Building trust is critical!”.
  • On January 9, 2014 (LLN), Prof. John B. Ford (Old Dominion University, USA) presented his work entitled “Cross-cultural scale development: An Emic-Etic balancing act”.
