Give an oral presentation of the content of their Bachelor’s thesis (“travail de fin de bachelier”, TFB), presenting it in an accessible way for a non-specialist audience. Erasmus students and students who have not yet chosen a TFB topic will present a scientific topic related to their field of study.
Give a dynamic and well-structured oral presentation using visual aids, providing clear and coherent explanations of scientific concepts in an accessible way.
Handle questions following the presentation and lead a discussion.
Listening:
Understand the main points of an accessible scientific presentation.

English : Communicating Sciences Effectively (level B1 and above) [SCDLB203]
The course is taught in person through interactive seminars conducted in English. Regular attendance and active participation are essential for progress, as language learning relies above all on practice. Opportunities to practise language production are provided in every class.
Particular attention is paid to the student workload, specifically the balance between in-person class hours and the credits allocated to the course. Approximately one third of the course credits (1 credit, approximately 30 hours) will be completed in person with the instructor, while the remaining two thirds (2 credits, approximately 60 hours) will be completed remotely using the resources available on the WebCampus platform.
The final grade for the course is calculated as follows:
January examination (30%):
Language proficiency test (20%)
Listening comprehension (10%)
June examination (70%):
Language proficiency test (20%)
Accessible oral presentation of the Bachelor’s thesis (TFB), or of a topic related to the student’s field of specialization for Erasmus students or students who do not yet have a TFB topic (30%)
Handling questions following the presentation (20%)
All assignments must comply with the instructions given in class. Failure to follow these instructions will result in failure or a penalty. Under no circumstances may they be completed using generative AI.
Absence or a signature-only attendance grade for any component of the assessment will result in an absence or signature-only attendance grade for the assessment as a whole.
For the August examination session, students who have obtained a final grade below 10/20 must retake the component(s) for which they did not obtain at least 10/20.
As in June, absence or a signature-only attendance grade for any component being retaken will result in an absence or signature-only attendance grade for the assessment as a whole.
In the event of a second failure, all components of the examination must be retaken the following academic year. Partial grades cannot be carried over from one academic year to the next.
Important note: Passing this course unit does not in any way certify that the student has reached any particular level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
