Learning outcomes

The course aims to provide students with the theoretical, conceptual and empirical foundations required to understand the field of human resource management.

 

 Learning outcomes:

1.    Grasp the fundamental concepts of Human Resource Management.

2.    Understand the strategic and operational role of the HR function.

3.    Grasp the key policies and practices of personnel management.

4.    Assess the interactions between HRM, managers, and organizational strategy.

5.   Apply HRM concepts to analyze and resolve workplace situations.

Goals

The course aims to provide an understanding of the role of HR within an organization. To this end, it is crucial to familiarize yourself with the key actors in HR management, the main HR practices and policies, and the strategic and operational links between the HR department and other business units as well as with managers.

Content

The course will be organized into the following five main sections:

1.    Workforce Planning

2.    Recruitment and Selection Management

3.    Training, development and career management

4.    Performance and Payroll Management

5.   Labour relations management

Teaching methods

The Human Resources Management course is based on two complementary approaches.

Lectures are the primary learning resource.

Interactive sessions with industry experts are designed to help you assimilate the content and case studies presented during the course.

Unless otherwise stated (e.g. a reference to an article), these two sources, together with your notes, will form the basis of the written examination
