RESEARCH

Thierry Braspenning-Balzacq, is a professor in political sciences at the University of Namur.   In June 2016, he received a mandate of « Francqui research professor » for a period of 3 years. A tremendous recognition for this young professor, in charge of the Toqueville Chair in security politics.

The Francqui research professor mandate is awarded to young academics or professors who prove excellent research quality and strengthen the University prestige by their personal international outreach.

The ongoing research aims at understanding how ambiguity affects the shape, contents and efficiency of diplomatic interactions.  He uses his knowledge in anthropology, philosophy, history and linguistics.

“This mandate will enable me to consolidate my international profile by favouring journals with high impact factors, by preparing the next European and international scientific deadlines and by working on the professional integration of the Tocqueville Chair researchers linked to different foreign leading universities”, explains Prof. Braspenning-Balzacq.

His NARC fellowship started on 1 November 2017 and finishes on 31 October 2019.
