maximum duration and the objectives of these appointments. These guidelines should take into account the time spent in previous post-doctoral appointments in other institutions, and the fact that post-doctoral status should be transitional, with the primary aim of providing additional opportunities for professional development for a research career with long-term prospects for advancement".
