Local taxes

Taxes not included in the rent.

These taxes represent a contribution to public property (waste collection, water treatment…). Every resident legally registered in the city has to pay it once a year. The City Administration can engage suits if you do not pay (leading to additional fees).

They are not included in the price of the waste bags.

The document arrives in May.

Exemption of payment

Under certain conditions you may be exempt from paying this tax.

As PhD student, you are exempted if:

  • you are under 25 years old. In that case you have to present the attestation of enrolment as PhD student.
  • you are more than 25 years old and your annual total gross income is less than 16.582,80€ (single person) or 20.460,96€ (with family). You can apply for an exemption by fill in the form available here https://namur-formulaires.guichet-citoyen.be/taxes-et-redevances/formulaire-de-reclamation/ and provide your last Avertissement extrait de rôle (exercice 2023 - revenus 2022) or the simplified tax declaration (exercice 2023 - revenus 2022).

You can also go there and explain your situation to the steward. Then you will have to sign a document and, regarding your situation, receive trash bags for free.

Any request for exemption must be submitted annually.
