Cost of living

Coût de la vieThe cost of living for a student staying in the French Community of Belgium is approximately 600 to 700 € per month.

Some examples of price:

  • Monthly university accommodation on campus costs on average 270 € (+ utilities) and a room in the private sector ranges from 280 € to 340 € (+ utilities).
  • Train ticket (Brussels - Namur) : 8 €
  • Eating out downtown Namur : 15 € per meal
  • University canteen: 4€-5 € 
  • Bread - 800 gr. : 2,2 €
  • 1,5 liters of water : 0,50 €
  • 1 liter of milk : 0,95 €

Computing service

Mobility students at the University of Namur will be able to generate, even before they arrive, a student ID and password, which can then be used to obtain a student card. The international students office will send the details on what to do about 6 weeks prior to a students planned arrival.

The generated information can then be used to have access to all university computing resources (webcampus, wifi) and the student card can be used to obtain discounts at the university cafeteria or else where in town and to have access to the university library and sport facilities (extra costs may apply for certain sports).

The Moretus Plantin university library is the central library of the University of Namur. It covers all the disciplines which are taught it on all the types of information media. It is also a front door towards the resources of the other libraries.

Virtual Library

The traditional library doubles as a virtual library provides access to bibliographic databases and textual multidisciplinary. It also provides on the website of the FUNDP more than 11,500 electronic journals, most of which is underwritten by university consortia of the French community of Belgium.

Associations d'étudiantsThe General Assembly of the Students (AGE) has for mission to collect and to defend the students of the University.
