This Doctoral school aims to help young researchers working on the economics of non-profits, non-governmental organizations (NGO) and motivated agents to develop advanced theoretical and experimental skills, as well as to expand their network of peers working on similar issues. Two days are devoted to advanced topics on both theoretical and experimental aspects of the topics.

Professor Maitreesh Ghatak (London School of Economics) will give a set of lectures on modeling non-profit organizations with motivated agents. Professor Lange (University of Hamburg) will give a set of lectures on using experimental methods to understand motivation of individuals and its organizational implications. A short session, given by Cecilia Navarra (University of Namur) will review the current empirical literature on NGO’s. Ph.D. students will have the opportunity to present their work and get feedback by presenters and by senior colleagues.

The lectures are organized in the framework of the Economics School of Louvain (ESL) Doctoral School, and are open to all the PhD students in Economics of all the Belgian universities and foreign universities.

This Doctoral School contributes to the construction of a European academic research network on the economics of non-profit organisations, NGOs and motivated agents (which currently federates University of Namur, London School of Economics, Paris School of Economics and Toulouse School of Economics).
